Japan's aging population coupled with inflation and wage growth stagnation has spurred a programme of reforms to its pension system, is resulting in increased private equity allocations. For private equity firms out on the road, or those planning to raise new vehicles, Japan is becoming fertile hunting ground for catching new commitments. In mid-April, Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) called for applications for alternative assets.
