Carlyle names Soares as new CIO
The Carlyle Group has announced the appointment of Lúcia Soares as the firm’s new chief information officer and head of technology transformation.
Soares joined Carlyle as a managing director and portfolio CIO for the America in February 2019. Since July 2021, she has been CIO for global portfolio solutions at the global investment firm.
Carlyle says that in her new role Soares will be focused on building enterprise-wide technology strategy, including business transformation, digitisation, automation and data innovation.
She will also work with Carlyle’s chief information security officer Bethany De Lude to drive a firm-wide approach to cybersecurity.
Commenting on the appointment, Carlyle CEO Harvey Schwartz said: “Lúcia is a transformational leader who has contributed groundbreaking value creation work for our companies and investors around the world and is uniquely positioned to now lead Carlyle’s firmwide team and efforts.”
Before joining Carlyle, Soares was a managing director of healthcare focused venture capital firm Health2047 and before that spent 15 years at medical and pharmaceuticals conglomerate Johnson & Johnson.
