Dechert’s Philip Dowsett joins Addleshaw Goddard
Addleshaw Goddard has appointed Dechert’s Philip Dowsett to lead the firm’s inaugural MENA investment management and funds practice.
Dowsett previously spent four years at Dechert, based in Dubai. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in the same region.
During his career, Dowsett has gained experience serving international investors and managers in fund formation, fund governance and investment management matters in the Middle East. He also advises on cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
In his new role, Dowsett will join an international team of lawyers who advise on private funds and operate across offices in Europe.
Andrew Johnson, Addleshaw Goddard’s head of Middle East and Asia, commented on the appointment: "Phil is one of the best-known names in his specialist field and we are delighted he has joined us to lead a new service line and build on the current regional fund matters being handled by the European team. He has worked with fund managers from around the world on their Middle East platforms and structures, as well as regional family offices and corporates looking to establish PE-like structures, and his arrival presents an exciting opportunity for us to respond to client demand and quickly establish a highly credible practice spanning the entire investment cycle."
