East of Europe and west of Abraaj’s downfall, small private equity and venture capital communities are charting their course through territories unpopulated by regulators or service providers on the frontier of the emerging markets – Lebanon and Palestine.

GPs in these countries face unique economic climates, torn by catastrophes. The ‘land of milk and honey’ has been facing a financial crisis since October 2019 and one of the worst economic crises globally since the mid-19th century, according to the spring 2021 edition of the Lebanon Economic Monitor.
