DWS appoints new CFO
DWS has appointed Markus Kobler as the firm’s CFO and member of its executive board, with effect from 1 November 2023. Kobler is to succeed Claire Peel who has been serving as CFO since 2018.
Over the last decade, Kobler worked as global CFO at Allianz Global Investors where he was also a member of its executive committee. Additionally, he spent the last three years as head of Allianz Global Investors in the UK.
Before his time at Allianz, he spent 11 years at Bank Julius Baer & Co, where he initially joined as head of business development and first vice-president in 2003.
His new role will see Kobler responsible for the firm’s CFO division, spanning finance, tax, capital planning and management, risk management and investor relations.
Stefan Hoops, CEO at DWS, called Kobler a “seasoned and proven finance professional with deep international experience” while Karl von Rohr, chair of DWS’ supervisory board added: “His experience as CFO of one of the leading asset management companies positions him ideally to make an outstanding contribution at DWS.”
Von Rohr also paid tribute to Peel’s departure and stated he was “personally grateful to Claire Peel for her focused, calm and ever professional leadership.”
According to DWS, Peel will depart the company on 30 September 2023.
