iCapital buys AI Insight
iCapital Network has acquired alternative investment education and compliance platform AI Insight.
AI Insight provides financial advisors investment research, training, qualification and compliance support for a variety of alternative investments including private capital, hedge funds, non-traded REITs and BDCs as well as alternative mutual funds. The platform claims to deliver unbiased fund-specific e-learning modules on private investment strategies to independent broker deals and registered investment advisors that want to expand their product offerings. Within a single workflow, advisors are able to study specific fund structures, methods and performance, complete assessments to demonstrate their knowledge, which fulfils their compliance and regulatory commitments.
As part of the deal, Sherri Cooke (president and CEO) and Jennifer Simon (COO) along with eight of their employees will join iCapital to continue working with AI Insight’s clientele.
According to Lawrence Calcano, chair and CEO of iCapital, there is a growing interest in alts investments and a regulatory environment expanding access to them is increasing the demand for in-depth and accessible education and compliance support.
“The acquisition of AI Insight supports our ongoing mission to equip independent advisors with comprehensive education and resources to ensure they are fully versed in the complexities of these funds and how they are best integrated in client portfolios,” he said.
This deal is part of iCapital’s wider plans to expand the alternative investment education available for financial advisors. The firm bought portfolio analytics tool, factorE last September, to evaluate and manage complex portfolios which include both traditional and alts investments. Additionally, iCapital also provides thought leadership and resources on market trends, emerging product strategies and fund management.
