McGuireWoods ‘appoints’ AI legal assistant
McGuireWoods, a US-based law firm with offices in London, is set to integrate CoCounsel, an AI legal assistant, into its operations.
According to McGuireWoods, CoCounsel should enhance the quality and timeliness of legal services delivered by the firm. The software will perform legal research, document review, deposition preparation and contract analysis.
“This partnership allows McGuireWoods to harness the latest AI technology to address our clients’ critical business challenges and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our legal services,” commented Peter Geovanes, chief innovation officer and AI officer at the law firm.
CoCounsel was developed by legal AI company Casetext and is powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4.
CoCounsel was built by combining GPT-4 with Casetext’s proprietary legal databases and search system, Parallel Search.
