The Drawdown (TDD): You started out at ABN AMRO in international banking before specialising in sustainability. What piqued your interest in this area?

Richard Burrett (RB): I’ve always had an interest in the environment. I spent 20 years at ABN AMRO and during the early 1990s, they financed my MBA. My dissertation topic was the impact of environmental legislation on bank lending policies.
