Regulators continue to woo retail investors in PE

The UK’s financial watchdog has issued a policy statement with the aim of broadening the distribution of LTAFs to retail investors and DC pensions schemes.

This policy constitutes the latest development in the story of countries waking up to the transformative potential of private capital, as Lora Froud, a partner in Macfarlanes’ investment management group, points out: “The introduction of the LTAF regime in the UK was largely driven by policy makers with the aim of increasing investment into long-term illiquid assets, with a view to supporting economic growth and the transition to a low-carbon economy.”
