Techwork 2022: Mark Gully, InvestIndustrial
Experience
Mark Gully heads up InvestIndustrial’s IT service delivery team. “During my early career, I served a long and fulfilling IT apprenticeship undertaking a number of technology and senior management roles. This experience has underpinned my roles as a CTO / IT director in several blue chip organisations operating across a variety of industry sectors such as financial services, insurance, pensions, security & managed services and government.”
His main areas of specialism span business transformation through the use of technology creation of highly effective IT departments, delivery of large and complex IT programmes (including business process outsourcing, data centres, new start-ups) and cyber security.
Achievements
Since joining InvestIndustrial, Gully’s main achievement has been defining and implementing the digital transformation strategy, covering all aspects of the firm’s technology infrastructure and the software needed to support the business operation. “This has been complemented through the creation of a new, highly talented IT department, to deliver significant transformation over the coming months and years,” says Gully.
With the foundations now effectively laid across the IT infrastructure Gully and his team are starting to implement ‘best of breed’ software to transform the firm’s way of working. “In addition, we are in the final stages of migrating to new state of the art data centres that will further enhance our technology footprint, disaster recovery and cyber security capabilities,” adds Gully.
Despite the major transformational work already completed, Gully and his team have exciting yet mysterious plans for the future. “InvestIndustrial recognises that the future business strategy will be underpinned and facilitated through leveraging technology as well as the firm’s excellent reputation for innovation. Therefore, in addition to the digital transformation programme there are a number of innovative ideas being explored that, once they come to fruition, will make an impact across the PE industry. Watch this space!”
According to Gully, InvestIndustrial’s tech stack is consistent with other leading PE firms. “More importantly, in my opinion, is our current focus on ensuring we have excellent integration between these existing applications so that efficiencies and synergies can be realised; as well as harnessing the benefits of any new software / applications we implement. For example, we are making a significant investment in a new firmwide document management system, which will support key business work flows as well as a centralised document store.”
