The Drawdown Awards winners: Debojit Mukherjee
Since joining Agilitas in 2017, Debojit Mukherjee has been crucial to the firm’s investment activities while improving its internal processes.
He played a role in the successful fundraising of the Agilitas 2020 Private Equity Fund, the fundraising for two deal-specific co-investment funds, and helped negotiate the legal documents of bridge facilities. He has also redesigned the firm’s quarterly investor reporting, helped build ESG processes and awareness, designed the firm’s recruitment and internal appraisal processes, and launched a partnership with mentoring organisation One Million Mentors.
During the judging period, Mukherjee oversaw a recruitment spree that saw the firm’s total headcount grow by 50%. This included establishing new entities in France and Germany. He also introduced new training workshops, managed the production of a sustainable value creation report and introduced a new data collection template for portfolio companies to ensure new ESG regulatory requirements are met.
It is clear he is held in high esteem by colleagues and the wider market, lauded for his commercial acumen and technical expertise. It was noted how comfortable he is in both investment committee meetings and completion meetings.
The judges said they were really impressed by the breadth of Mukherjee’s influence, being equally comfortable in the details of a deal as he is passionate about mentoring and developing people.
