The roots of diversity

by Silvia Saccardi 5 October 2023

Creating a diverse team at partner level can prove tricky for midmarket PE firms, and the latest stats are in agreement.

According to McKinsey & Company’s 2023 report on diversity in global private markets, which surveyed 66 PE firms and institutional investors across the globe, the industry has almost achieved parity of genders at entry-level roles, with women holding 48% of such positions in PE at the end of 2022.

The problem remains at the top of the chain, where only 20% of women hold managing director roles.
