Invest Europe names public affairs director
Invest Europe has named Martin Bresson as director of public affairs, taking over from Anna Lekston, who left the position in September.
The association confirmed to The Drawdown Bresson will commence his role on 6 January.
Based in Brussels, he will head up the association’s existing team of three public affairs staff, and lead Invest Europe’s work with European policymakers and regulators.
“Martin and the team will [also] definitely be addressing potential implications Brexit will have for both Invest Europe members as well as the wider industry and how their ability to operate across Europe will be impacted,” a spokesperson for the association added.
Bresson joins Invest Europe from Rud Pedersen Public Affairs where he spent two-and-a-half years as partner, group head of financial services. During his time there, he oversaw client advice on financial services and complex corporate issues.
He started his career at industry associations in Denmark. Following this, Bresson spent 10 years working at the Danish Ministry for Business and Economic Affairs, where he was responsible for EU policies, negotiating key financial services, as well as industry and internal market files during the Danish Presidency of the EU in 2012. Since then, Bresson has advised clients on European issues in the private sector in Brussels.
“Martin is a highly experienced public affairs professional with in-depth knowledge of European financial services as well as corporate topics, such as competition, tax and trade,” said Invest Europe CEO Eric de Montgolfier.
“His track record at an industry, national and European Union level, combined with his strong network of contacts and reputation in Brussels, make him a valuable addition to the team.”
Bresson has a master of law degree from the University of Copenhagen as well as postgraduate diplomas in business administration.
